Hitting the High Pitch

All pitchers are taught to keep the ball down and pitch low in the strike zone. Why??? Because when a pitcher makes a mistake up in the zone they are more likely to give up a home run or an extra base hit. Now that we know that, we need to be aggressive on pitches that are up in the zone especially in advantage counts. The problem is that most hitters do not make the over adjustment needed to get on top of the high pitch and they swing and miss or pop it up. To hit a high pitch you need to make... (more...)

Hitting the Outside Pitch

A trick to hitting the outside pitch is two simple swing thoughts. Attack the inside half of the ball. And let the ball get deep. Simple physics shows that making contact with the inside half of the ball will cause the ball to be hit the other way. And letting the ball get deep allows you to see more of the inside half of the ball. Put the two together, and you have a ball over the outside corner of the plate driven hard the other way. Let the ball get deep, and attack the inside half of the... (more...)

After Calculus 1 beat me up freshmen year, I decided to switch over to business which was always another love of mine. But those computer skills never left. (more…)  Read More →

Taking a pitch the right way.

You might take a pitch for 2 reasons… 1. Because the Manager has decided you are going to take a pitch, or for some reason you have decided to take the pitch. 2. The pitcher has thrown a ball and you hold off your swing. I personally hate taking pitches. I would do it when the manager asked. But when I was left free to hit I would much rather get ready to smash on one specific pitch, his fastball or whatever the pitchers #2 pitch was. I did this on every single pitch the pitcher would... (more...)
